Simon Tofield was working as a commercial animation director on campaigns for Marmite, Singapore Zoo, Microsoft and UNEP when his lovable character, now known as Simon’s Cat first appeared in Cat-Man-Do. The 1½ minute comedy went viral on YouTube and awards followed, including a British Animation Award for Best Comedy in 2008. His follow up film, Let Me In, ensured that Simon’s Cat had more than nine lives. TV Dinner, his third film in what is now a series of 25 films, premiered on the Culture show (BBC 2) in July 2008. From that humble beginning, the world of Simon’s Cat has moved from strength to strength. A book deal with Canongate has lead to 4 books that have been selling around the world, the Simon’s Cat YouTube channel has been in the top 100 Subscribed Channels World Wide and recently broke the mark of 1 million subscribers and over 300 million views.
